Baked apples with lemon juice & cinnamon
Firstly I cored and cut three organic 'normal' apples (i.e. not cooking apples) into quarters. I peeled just one of them as an experiment to see which Joseph preferred. I then squeezed the juice of just under half of a fresh lemon on them and then sprinkled some ground cinnamon over the top before putting them in the oven for about 20 minutes on 180 degrees centigrade. It's as simple as that and I'm sure you would've managed without my explanation!
They came out of the oven smelling like an apple pie and were actually pretty tasty that I wasn't too disappointed that I didn't get to have an actual pie.
I let them cool for a few minutes before offering them to Joseph and, after some initial inspection, they passed the test and he had a great time exploring them. Surprisingly he preferred the ones with the skins on, I think because he could get a better grip on them.
I saved the leftovers in an extortionate-yet-newly-irresistible Joseph-Joseph tupperware box in the fridge overnight and brought them out with us today as we went to visit a friend, and they were a success the second time around as well. Joseph didn't eat much of the skins but he certainly ate decent amounts of the flesh as it was nice and soft for him. He possibly enjoyed them more today as they were much cooler than yesterday which might have been nice on his gums. Who knows.
If you have any simple suggestions for me to try, I'd love to hear from you (simple because I've literally only just begun cooking for the first time in my life!)
Also let me know if you try this!
Hope you're having a good week so far x
